Explore / Crosstab API

The TelmarHelixa Explore / Crosstab API is a RESTful API that enables clients to bring trusted syndicated survey intelligence directly into their local or cloud-hosted applications. Teams can interrogate codebooks and retrieve tabulated insights from all licensed datasets, supporting real-time analysis within their own environments.

Rather than requiring clients to store, manage, or version the underlying data themselves, the API provides on-demand, real-time access to the latest available dataset — along with a five-year historical backlog for trend analysis. Usage is unlimited in terms of number of runs; billing is per call and scales with the volume of data returned.

What is included

  • Works with any data loaded and available within the Explore platform
  • Always returns the latest available data version
  • Five-year historical backlog for trend analysis
  • Machine-readable OpenAPI document and CORS pre-flight

Key capabilities

Data access across Explore

Works with any data loaded and available within the Explore platform, so you call licensed datasets without storing or versioning the underlying data yourself.

Current data, always

Always returns the latest available data version for the surveys you are entitled to.

Historical trends

Five-year historical backlog available for trend analysis. Your application owns how you compare results across calls — the API does not bundle a built-in trend function.

Weighted audience results

`POST /crosstab` returns weighted projected audience (`WgtAud`), unweighted respondents (`Resps`) and a stability flag (`Stbl`) for each target.

Discoverable at runtime

`GET /docs` returns the live OpenAPI document so your client can confirm the contract before a batch run.

Browser-ready CORS

`OPTIONS /crosstab` reports the allow headers your origin needs, without requiring an API key.

Use cases

Embedded survey intelligence

Bring tabulated insights from licensed datasets into your local or cloud-hosted application under your own branding.

Demographic comparison tiles

Crosstab two targets against a shared population base to drive a side-by-side audience tile in a planner or dashboard.

Single-target audience check

Ask for one target when you only need a single cut — for example a live check that a planned buy clears a stability threshold.

Trend analysis in your product

Pull historical backlog across calls and compare results in your own application — the API returns the data; your product owns the trend UX.

How it is sold

Per-call usage
Billing is per call and scales with the volume of data returned (number of results). Usage is unlimited in terms of number of runs across all users. Commercial terms including per-call cost, tiers and minimum commitments are defined separately with Sales.
Monthly billing
Clients are billed on a monthly cadence based on usage. Usage is visible in the Developer Portal.
Unlimited runs
No cap on how often you call within your agreement. Batch and scheduled workloads are expected, not exceptional.

Rates, tiers and contract terms are not published here. What a call costs for you depends on volume and commitment, so commercial terms are agreed with Sales rather than listed on a public page.

Constraints

Hard technical limits. Requests that breach these are rejected with a machine-readable error rather than silently truncated.

Result shape per call
Per API call: 1 column and up to 2 rows (or 2 columns and 1 row). For this crosstab operation that means between one and two `TargetCodes`.
Maximum per axis
The maximum result limit is 5,000 rows per axis. This limit may be adapted in future versions.
Trend analysis
There is no built-in compare/trend function across datasets in the API — trend analysis is the responsibility of the integrating application.

Fair-use limits

“Unlimited runs” means no call cap inside your agreement. It does not mean no protection for the service or for other tenants.

  • Unlimited runs are subject to your agreement; sustained load well beyond your agreed profile may be throttled.
  • Requests with more than two `TargetCodes` are rejected rather than silently truncated.
  • Credentials are issued per account and must not be shared between organisations or resold.
  • Redistributing raw responses in bulk to third parties requires a separate agreement — talk to Sales.
  • Permissioning and survey access must be configured before any API queries can be made.
